nt, cd, and a problem
in my work , we use nt on all our workstations, now ive installed a cdrom in my unit, which i need to run certain bmw tasks, ANYHOW, it wont recognise the cd!!. it sees it in the bios, but i cant locate it on the system. nt isnt as user friendly as the other o/s,s , in where you can go to add/remove new hardware and stuff!, can anyone help please ??????????????

I remeber having to install the CD-rom driver for nt. So, you may want to go to the manufacturers site and try that.

That's how nt works or you could say doesn't work. It is not user friendly at all. I just finished an internship where we did a token to ethernet conversion and almost everthing had to be done manually.

I wouldn't say that NT is not user friendly. But the user needs to know how to run NT! NT is not plug and play. You have to play by the rules with NT, probably one of the reasons it works so well. If you want to install hadware on NT you have to install and configure it.

No, if it's trying to install mscdex, that's a DOS driver, not a NT driver. I know what you have to do, but I don't remember exactly! I believe you have to go into Control Panel, then SCSI devices (yes, I know it's an IDE drive, but NT puts all storage controllers under SCSI) and add it in there. NT should have the driver built-in, but you have to add the device manually, NT has almost zero plug and play capability.
