Blue Screen of Death

Okay, during my career I have come acrossed many BLOD's and sometimes was able to research a fix and sometimes couldn't find anything. I have read quite a few instructions in the process in breaking it down. Sometimes it gets so detailed that you don't know where you began and ended.
Anyway, I was wondering for those who actually research these errors. What are the steps and tools you take?

If I get a message I don't understand I search for it on Microsoft's site. If they doesn't get any results I'll go to the offending hardware or software manufacturer's site. If that doesn't work I try to figure out what has changed to start the problem. If that doesn't work I start guessing!

So basically you do exactly what I do. Oh well, maybe there won't be an easier way. Hell, if this job was easy I wouldn't have it.
