HELP - Explain in Plain English please
I've been given some instructions for a Win98 installation workaround, but cannot understand most of it. Is it possible to explain the following in 'basic layman's terms'?
"extract precopy1.cab pidgen.dll (enter) debug pidgen.dll (enter) -e 1ed7 (enter) xxxx:1ED7 39. 8b (enter) -e 1edf (enter) xxxx:1EDF 39. 8b (enter) -w (enter) -q (enter) For those with a hex editor, patch offset 1dd7h and 1ddfh from bytecode 39h to byttecode 8bh. Debug works fine (file is <64k so no segment adjustments are necessary) for patching small files like this one." I have extracted and found precopy1.cab pidgen.dll; Enter it where? And what now please, as the rest is not understood at all?. Apologies for the ignorance.

This is a workaround for a missing product key on win98 - supposedly.

Well... this is a touchy subject then. If you have a missing Win98 product key, you must deal with Microsoft as we cannot support this issue here as it falls under hacking and/or cracking.
