Are you booting from a floppy to run setup? Try booting from the windows cd and see if that works.

Hi wolfie,
Try doing the installation with only 1 hard drive and 1 optical drive installed. Remove any expansion PCI cards (sound, modem, NIC, etc...) and any other peripherals (Zip drive, scanner, etc...). You may need to download the hard drive diagnostic utilities from the hard drive manufacturer's website and test out that drive too. Cricket

Strong possibility, could also be memory, cables. It's trial and error from there.

Hi wolfie,
Windows (used to) has a problem on older mobo's that had the anti-virus block checked in the BIOS. Try disabling that option and attempt another reinstall..... HTH TwoRails |

Perhaps you could be a little more specific, what do youy mean, it was the memory. Did your memory have to be replaced or was it not seated correctly.

when i said it was my memory . To be more specific.......
I had previously installed new(additional memory) and it appeared to work fine. Then formatted my hard drive, tried to install windows 98 .I had the same problem as above.....REmoved that memory and installed windows 98 no problem.BUT was still able to use that memory after windows install. |
