ScanDisc Shutoff?

Running WIN98 SE, ScanDisc always runs upon booting up; including after proper shutdowns. How can I turn this off, please?

Hi tosim,

Go to Start> Run> type in "msconfig" (without the quotes) and hit OK. The System Configuration Utility will pop up, click on the Advanced button. In the Advanced option window, check the option to Disable Scandisk at boot up after bad shutdown (something like that...I can't remember the exact wording) and click OK.

You really don't want to disable scandisk. Then it won't run when you really have a bad shutdown.

Apply this patch and see if it resolves your problem

Thanks to you both. Been using XP so long now I'm forgetting other OS' basics when I assist others. Thanks again.

I tried to apply this patch and when I attempt to run the executable, it tells me that the update is not designed for my version of Windows..BUT, I'm running Win98SE... I have the same issue as initially brought up here and it's QUITE annoying...
