Error in Windows Registry
Occasionally when I boot up my system, it will say that an error was found in the registry files. This is right after it finishes booting up. I click on and it restarts but it goes to a blue screen while it "restores backed up files". Then it restarts. What could be the problem and how is it fixed? The most recent major thing I did was restore the system from the Compaq CDs. Nothing was wrong I just wanted to clean it up. Thanks for the help.

Have you made a full scan for viruses?
Also do a full scandisk.

I had this very same problem a few months ago. After trying the different ways to repair the registry, Glc recommended trying different ram and that solved the problem. I won't say for sure that is the answer to your problem, but would recommend trying it.

Hi el_novato,
Just to add to Nuclear Krusader's post, and that by "full' I'm sure he means to run the Surface Scan with the scandisk. TwoRails |

This can often be the first signs of impending hardware failure.
In the case above it turned out to be RAM but it could also be PSU or hard disks (I speak from experience as we've had 5 of these at work that did this occasionally and then the hard disk died) so make sure you always have a current backup of your work. |

Well guys,
I ran a full scan disk, disk cleanup, disk defrag, and a virusscan on the drive. Seems to be working fine now. Hopefully that cured the problem. Thanks for the input! Should it happen again, I'll post here again. Thanks again. |

It happened again!! I'm guessing that my HDD is on its way out. Is there anything else that could be causing this?

Frequently it is caused by bad ram.
