XMS Driver not found

I have windows xp and I am trying to open a program. It opens up in the command prompt and says "an extended memory manager is already installed, xms driver not installed, program too big to fit in memory". I have tried several things and have not been able to figure this out. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You probably need to set the program to run in one of the compatibility modes.

That was the first thing I tried. I tried every compatability option and nothing worked.
