'missing VSHINIT.VXD file
On a PC that was recently infected with w32.Aplore@mm virus,
( may be unconnected) I'm getting during the boot up " missing device file -registry or SYSTEM.INI " file referred to no longer exists " "press any key to continue." What is this ?? Repairable ? Thanks Last edited by Parangles; 09-30-2002 at 09:25 AM. |

Thanks lots ! How do I back up the key in question ( as they recommend)before I delete it ? Or forget back up ? Yes,
I uninstalled McAfee and installed Norton. Tks again. |

Just edit system.ini in notepad, and remove the offending line.

If your not going to use McAffee, don't bother to backup the reg key. To backup a registry key just select it, then file, export key and name it something easy to remember.
