Need major help (Continuing freeze-up)
My story:
Everytime I boot up my rig it will load up everything as normal and load everything on the desktop. Then it will just freeze-up totally and have a wait curser for the whole time. The only thing I can do is control-alt-delete twice to reboot to the same thing, it won't even show anything when I hit control-alt-delete once. To put it short it will lock-up totally at start-up and the only thing I can do is reboot. The only possible cause I can think of is that the other day the power went out at my house for like a split second, but I went into my room and the computer was still running and was functioning. But when I re-booted it began to freeze-up. Please offer some words of wisedom on this problem. |

Hi Grimey742,
Try booting into Safe Mode and let us know if you can enter Safe Mode okay and if the computer freezes up or not. Sounds like maybe something got scrambled when the power went out...maybe the video driver, maybe a system file. Cricket

Yeah
I am able to boot into safe mode.
I tried changing some things in msconfig but nothing changed. I tried running scandisk and nothing changed. But I am able to go into safe mode. |

Something is trying to load that can't, for whatever reason.
It could be a corrupt system file, it could be a corrupt driver. I would run SFC and let it replace all system files, and if that doesn't fix it, remove everything from msconfig/startup and try again, if that doesn't do it, remove everything from device manager, and let everything reinstall on startup. |

Sorry I must have misread, as I posted my thoughts that it could be hardware like mouse or keyboard because I thought it read that you could not even get into safe mode!
