DVD problem (BSOD)

When playing DVDs I'm having a slight problem, I can watch for about 5 minutes (varies between 1 and 10 minutes each time - it's happened three times in a row)

I then get a STOP Error in emu10k1f.sys (Seems to be something to do with my SBLive! Player card) with the message DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Any ideas? (i.e. can somebody dig me up some stuff from a Creative message board? )

Thanks a lot,

Jim

Hi fatboyjim,

What DVD software are you using? What DVD drive is that? What OS are you using?

Do you have anything else running while you're watching the DVD? Have you tried disabling them to see if the problem goes away?

Have you tried updating the Soundblaster drivers?

System specs, please.

thanks Cricket

In answer to your many questions ...

PowerDVD, LiteOn DVD Drive (LTD163), Windows 2000 SP2

Nothing that I know of is running whilst I'm running the DVD, although there is UD running (distributed computing - cure cancer project if you didn't know). I haven't tried disabling it but I will do tonight and let you know (please post back and remind me if I haven't told you by the morning )

I haven't tried updating my Soundblaster drivers because I'm not sure where I would find an update. (And everything else is working fine)

If you tell me where I can find the version number and then tell me the latest SBLive! 5.1 Player driver version number > I'll do my best to update

I'm downloading the latest nVidia detonator drivers at the moment (who knows, it may help)

And as you asked for specs...

Athlon 1.2GHz, 512MB RAM, TNTII 32MB video, SBLive! Player 5.1 with 5.1 surround sound system (it's pretty special when it works properly without crashing at DVDs) and I can't think of anything else you'd need to know

btw, It has been fine until I went to watch some DVDs recently (and I don't remember installing anything new recently)

You've had all the info I have now guys

Turning off some applications I have running in the background didn't make any difference to the instability

My new nVidia detonator drivers were corrupt (re-downloading tonight)

And as for the SBLive! Player drivers, I'd need a hand finding those.

Thanks again,

Jim

have you recently installed more memory? Sometimes XP does not like more than 512 MB ram.

It's Windows 2000

But there is 512MB RAM in there, yes

I formatted my hard drive yesterday, did a clean install of Win2000 etc and installed the DVD software again

Since then I have successfully watched a few of my DVDs a couple of times without any problem at all

Thanks for the help, As for what the problem was.. who knows?
