how to turn off cd autorun in win2k?
How do I turn off the CDRom autorun feature in Win2K?
In a Win2K book and in the help files, it says to......go through My Computer, Tools, Folder Options, File Types, Audio CD, Advanced, then under Actions click Play, but the Set Default button is greyed out and not available to select/de-select. However, I want to stop autorun entirely, not just for audio CD's but I can't find instructions on how to do it. Why? Because if any CD is in my drive, it autoruns about once every 5-10 minutes while my system is running. That's not right. |

Hi anomaly,
Run regedit, go to: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom] Fine the "Autorun" key and set it to "0". I do this everytime after a fresh install of Win2K/XP. |
