Would this work?
Anomaly in a post on the Win9x forum wants a clean install of Win98 on his C: and leave W2K intact on D:
Apart from reinstalling or repairing W2K to reinstate the boot files, would this work? Copy boot.ini, ntldr, and ntdetect.com from C: to a floppy disk. Format C:, reinstall Win98 - AND THEN copy the three XP files back to the root of C: Everything should be as it was. That way, you wouldn't have to reinstall or repair W2K." Would this work or am I missing something? Any views or opinions? Last edited by mike breck; 10-06-2002 at 05:15 AM. |

Too much it isn't as easy as this - you see you cant just copy the boot back because it's boot has to be formated...
I have made this and also made a post on that one - you may read in the tips and tricks - how to add a drive to winxp or win2k - then you might understand.. Regards mike Hpro |

Thanks Hpro.
I'v read your tip many times; but I'll go back and re-analyse your work in more depth. Now you put it that way, I suppose a clean install of Win98 on C: with W2K on D: is just the same as adding Win9x to XP in your tip. However, Anomaly's question did make me think about the problem in a different way. You can go round in circles with this one.
