Deleting task bar programs?

Where in the registry is the programs that are loaded into the taskbar during start up?
I found it a few weeks ago when I deleted another annoying taskbar program but I can't find it again.

Very annoyingly AOL 7.0 installs RealPlayer and I REALLY hate RealPlayer on my computer. Not surprisingly, RealPlayer does not have an uninstaller.

It sits in my taskbar flashing away and it's bugging the hell out of me.

Please help, I WANT the RealPlayer program loader entry deleted from the registry.....ASAP!

Thanks.

Hi all

Actually, if you want to stop RealPlayer from loading at startup, you don't need to edit your Registry. Instead, start RealPlayer, and look for the Preferences menu. Then look for the Start Center and uncheck the little box that enables it to run at startup. RealPlayer will protest that you won't get automatic junk, but hold your ground! Also go to the "automatic" behavior settings, and uncheck all the background updating that is driving you crazy. Make sure to use the slider bars to see all options, some of the most annoying ones are hidden far down on the list: out-of-view if you just glance quickly at the window.

I'm a little suprised that your RealPlayer doesn't uninstall (did you look in Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel?). But that might be because the AOL7 multimedia stuff uses it to play the music (for "AOL radio") and videos... AOL7 would probably prompt you to reinstall the RealPlayer if you did uninstall it, since it considers it part of the AOL7 package. If you just stop the StartCenter, you should be able to play your multimedia with your favorite software, just make it the default player for that type.

For all other startups, you can follow the advice from our good doctor and his apprentice n/a. . .

. . . Gary
