why does my pc freeeze !!

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY does my pc keep freeeezing up !

here are the specs..
Amd athlon xp 2000+
512 ddr pc2700 ram
GeForce4 Ti 4400
MSI KT3 Ultra-Aru mobo
2 Maxtor HD's. Each is 40 gb. Ata 133 @ 7x00 rpm
2 intake fans
2 rear exhaust fans and 1 top chimney fan
Thermal SLK-600 copper HS
Rounded cables on all ide cables.
XP Pro OS
431 Watt PSU

I just formatted my HD.. i REinstalled the OS (XP Pro) and installed a few programs which are :

aDSL drivers for modem.
RealOne Player
msn games software.
geforce 4 drivers
detanator for GeForce 4
Partition Magic 7.0
sound drivers for mobo
norton ghost 2002

thats pretty much it.
I just installed those coz they were either neccessary or i thought they woulndt hurt.

The reason i formatted my pc was coz every time i left my PC idle ( more than 20 mins ) it would just FREEEZE. I thought it may have been something i installed or spoilt.
So i formatted my pc 3 days ago. till today everything went fine. UNTIL 4 hours ago i installed RealOne Player and games.msn.com software.

I had used Real One player and msn games software for a long time. But i left my idle 40 mins ago and when i came back it was frozen !!!

this is sooo frustrating..i did not install alot of stuff coz i wanted to first make a disk image via Norton Ghost as back up.. u know so i woulndt have to go thru the hassle of formatting and so on. !!
Now again it froze.

Could the reason be that i entered bios. then i set Spread Spectrum to Disabled and pushed the FSB till 129 ( i have been able to get it to 142 @ 1.77 ghz but for some reason if i go higher than 129, my pc will freeze just before it starts upp )
I also set the Cpu V(core) to 1.750.

Could these have affected it to make my pc freeze?
the temps are
cpu temp. is 44 Celsuis which is 109 Fahrenheit

chassis temp is 29 Celsius which is 84.2 Fahrenheit.

HELP !!

Turn off all power management in the bios and in Windows. Clock the thing stock and use automatic settings wherever possible. Get rid of the DSL software and use XP's builtin PPPoE client.

"Clock the thing stock " what do u mean ?
and which automatic settings do you mean ?
How do i get the system to configure my modem as a DSL line with out using its software ? and how come? Do you think its the aDSL software messing it up ? Because Bell South has had a change in the drivers at least 1 time that i am aware off. Stupid tech support walked me thru the installation process way back in the begginging when i first installed XP Pro and made me download and install the wrong drivers.. After hours of trying, a tech support manager informed me and the stupid techie of the right drivers.
But honestly, i doubt its the dsl software.

Don't overclock your CPU. The stock FSB for a Athlon XP is 133MHz and your 2000+ runs at 1.67GHz.

I agree... get everything running at the factory settings first. Don't mess with the FSB or voltages. Reset the BIOS to the defaults. Disable the serial ports if you don't need them.

CorruptedSanitY, Hi I got your PM and I have to agree with everyone else who has replied to the post. Don't OC until you know for sure that the system is stable.

You have your CPU underclocked now (the 2000+ runs at 1.67GHz)...you're getting less performance than you paid for.

Turn off the screensaver.

The screensaver can sometimes be the cause of system lockups and freezes. Just thought it might have something to do with your freezes.
