About to upgrade to WindowsXP and have a strange question for you all
Is it possible to lock the master volume control because when i get the new speakers i don't want them being turned up too loud by other people that will be using the computer (mainly because they might get damage).I don't mind the other volume controls getting changed, but the "Volume Balance" one i think has control over everything that goes the the speakers. Any thoughts? Last edited by Babylon; 10-08-2002 at 04:13 AM. |

Depends on the user account policies of the users.
Usually in situations like this, the best thing you could do is to tell the people using it not to do it As an alternative, you could remove the speaker icon (mixer settings) from your taskbar. Then use Group Policy Editor (Start > Run > gpedit.msc ) .. go to Administrative Templates > Start menu and Tasbar > Double click on Prevent changes to taskbar and Start menu settings and change it to enabled. Also do the same to Remove access to the context menus for the taskbar Then go to Administrative Templates > Control Panel and here you can either double click on Hide specified Control Panel applets and hide the Sound and audio devices applet; or you can doubleclick on Show only specified Control Panel applets; and hide all applets except what you want to share. Mind you, as I said, it depends on the user account settings .. if you arent an admin, or if they are also admins your efforts will be wasted. |
