Win 98SE & Users

Hi,
Could anyone tell me if there is a way in 98 to specify that a certain user account CANNOT do any downloads? A friend's son keeps downloading Kazaa and getting viruses, so I'd like to set the computer up for him where each family member has to log onto their own account. Not very familiar with user accounts, since I'm the only one that ever uses mine, so I've had no need for this.
Thanks for any suggestions!

columbo3,
In the Control Panel, there should be an icon for just what you're looking for. Its called Users, I think.

Internet options/security/disable file downloads. I haven't ever had to use this but it should do the trick. Of course this is after you have set up his user account.

Roger,
Thanks. I knew you could do that in XP but wasn't sure about 98.

If the friends son wants Kazza bad enough he will find a way around this, so all you may be doing is slowing him down.

Well, slowing him down would be good. If his dad takes my advice and makes HIM pay for the "repair" this time, that might actually slow him down ALOT

The kid's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, but I'm betting he'll understand that it'd be a heck of alot cheaper for him just to go buy CDs from now on!

When you deny someone of something it will often make then even more determined to achieve their goals regardless of how sharp they are.

Good luck!

BTW as an alternative to Kazaa try WinMX as it doesn't cause the problems that Kazaa is known for.
