removing start-up options.

My PC has started displaying the start-up options every time I boot up.

It is the same options page I get if I press F8 during boot up - normal mode, safe mode, safe mode command prompt etc.

Is there an easy way to turn this off and why might it have started to happen ?

TIA

Howdy

I'm guessing your running some version of Windows (let us know which one, please) and it's corrupted somewhere along the lines... Have you run scandisk lately?... Run a virus scan?... Does it boot into normal mode?... Have you added/deleted/changed any hardware or software right before this started to happen?... Too many questions?... hehe...

Good luck and let us know

Open a DOS window and type in

CD.. < Enter > this will take you to C:\
ATTRIB -H-R-S MSDOS.SYS
EDIT MSDOS.SYS

You will find an entry BOOTMENU=1
change it to 0, save and exit.

Try start/run/msconfig/advanced button and make sure "enable start menu" is not checked.

Thanks for the advice - I'll try them all !

It's Win98SE - ran Scandisk and Defrag (no probs) and it's loaded with bang up-to-date Norton AV.
