scanner listed in multiple places in safe mode device manager

after reading threads over the past week or so, I decieded to go
into safemode just to check my device manager. My cdrw was
listed 3x,cdrom 3x, scanner was listed with scsi and unsupported
devices.
I'm running 98se and everything seems to be running ok, my question is, should device manager in safemode be a mirror image
of device manager under normal operating conditions? If so, how do you decide what to remove in safe mode and how much risk is
involved?
Can a device be listed under 2 or 3 places?( my digital camera is
listed under hard drives, and mass storage under USB) . All the duplicates are in safemode.
Thanks

If it ain't broke don't fix it

If and when you have problems with one of the devices, remove the extra ones while in safe mode.
