windows 2k install problem

i've been trying to install 2k on a friends computer. the computer originally had 98 on it... i've tried upgrading, and a clean install.

w2k starts installing... when it gets to the first restart, the computer passed the POST, the brings up the menu that asks to enter windows setup or start windows ... both options lead to a black screen.. and thats as far as it gets..

ps... in the cmos setup there is an OS selection for windows95,98, NT, or Other...
i tried all of those..

Welcome to the mech!

Do you still have the cd in the player or do you take it out?

I would suggest you check the MS HCL to ensure the hardware in that HP is compatible for 2000, also get the model number and check HP's site to see if there is support for 2000.
