2K Server Minimum Resources - Advice Required

Hello

I would like to install 2K Server on a P2 based Celeron 266MHZ
with 64MB PC66 SDRAM and Abit AH6 mobo (supports P2s from 233MHZ to 333MHZ and Celerons to 466MHZ and up to 384MB SDRAM) but this system may be underpowered for the application
(Celeron 266 only has 32Kbytes [16Kdata/16Kinstr] of L1 cache and no L2).

I have a 6.4GB Seagate HDD. As far as I am aware 64MB is the minimum required to install 2K Server.

I could use some help as regards the minimum resources required
to install and run 2K Server. Maybe I can upgrade what I have.

Any recommendations welcome.

Thanks

Firstly, even as a workstation, the above hardware specs are going to make your system extremely sluggish. Much less behave as a server. IMO, even ifyou upgrade your processor you still have to get more RAM; so my suggestion would be to get more RAM to begin with - something to the tune of "oodles" MB - and then see how you like the performance before you think of going to a faster processor.

Yes, 64Mb of RAM is the minimum every thing else is above the minimum.

I agree with Statica it will be sluggish with those specs.

I sort of Expected That

Yeah thanks Statica and Lil Jimmie

I kind of suspected that would be the situation. Adding more
"oodles" SDRAM probly the way. The fact this 266 has NO L2 is a real downer. I may swap in a P2 which at least has both L1 and L2 cache in the processor.

Maybe this thing is only good for 9X or Me anyway. Time for a new Gigabyte mobo maybe etc.

Thanks again

p.s. I think the UPS powering my Cerebellum must have failed
before I made my initial post. I even failed to post
under the right forum ( NO BRAINERS ).

Sorry guys (need Mega "oodles" sleep )
