Question XP Upgrade?

I know that this has been asked before but I can't find the post. I am running Win 98 and have finally decided to upgrade to XP Home. Can you do a clean install with the upgrade version? If so what do I need to do. Thanks

Yes you can. Set your Bios to boot to the CDROM, after you format your drive. Then start the install, at some point it will ask for your Win98 disk. Put it in the cdrom and follow the directions.
The rest is easy...

When XP boots up the only icon will be the recycle bin.

To add more icons to your desktop, right click it, select properties > desktop > customize desktop.

Even easier, hold down the CTRL key and drag them to the desktop. If you don't hold down the CTRL key, it will move the shortcut not copy the shortcut.

I like it that way, then I only have to remove one icon to have a clean desktop.

I agree, icons of my frequently used programs are in "Quick Launch" or in the new "Start Menu", I prefer a clean desktop.
