There is no hard drive prep needed any more - just boot to the XP cd and it will do everything for you.

Zaney and glc are of course correct.
However, if you would like to make a bootdisk for emergency purposes see this MS link http://support.microsoft.com/default...EN-US;Q305595& HTH |

Do you just the cd in before you partition the harddrive? I heard that you have to create a primary DOS partition before you install the operating system. Thanks all.

Go into BIOS and change the first boot device to the CD-ROM. Save and Exit. Put the WinXP CD in the CD-ROM drive and reboot the computer. The system will boot to the WinXP CD and the installation utility will take over. It will let you know when to partition the drive and when to format (use NTFS)...just follow the instructions, it's pretty easy. Cricket

Also, you can create/delete partitions after installing Windows XP using Admin Tools > Computer Management > Storage > Disk Management.
