Why do you need to change the MAC address?

i don't realy want to change it,
mainly i just want to know what it is, cause i have 2 pc's in a network, and it works for fietransfer but not for certain games,
a friend of mine , who studies electronic engenering told me that this might be because (1 chance /10000000, what luck) my two nics might have the same adress, i'd like to at least rule out the possibility

You should be able to type winipcfg at a DOS prompt in Windows to see the addresses. However, it is extremely unlikely that the problems you are having with your game are caused by this.

A MAC address is somewhat like a VIN in a car: there is rarely a legitimate reason to change it, and many people who want to change it do so for nefarious reasons.

Usually, when people want to change a MAC address, it is to foil some copyright protection system or to otherwise do something illegal. Those things, of course, cannot be discussed here.

i did not know that, and i am sorry for causing anny incovenience, or to have drawn anny kind of suspicion on me, i am relative new to all things concerning networks (kindof islike feeling in the dark)
i fully agree that there are ethical limits to what you can and can not do with a pc, as wel as tecnical or legal for that matter.

Don't worry about it at all. The only way to learn is to ask.
