It may be you have to much ram. I don't think ME like 98 can co above 512. Or are you saying you have 64mb sdram? if that is the case you may not have enough for what your using.
If you only have 64MB I would upgrade to 128 or better yet 256 max.

Hi TrippinJedi,
It could be the memory, which is easy to check. Are you saying 640MB?? That's not a very common number. If it is 640, then take out one stick and try it. More likely, however, is how many items do you have running on startup? I'd disable everything you can and test the system again. add things one at time to you find the offending problem. Hi TrippinJedi,
I'd definitely take out the 128 stick. Mixing up like that has given me nothing but trouble. Once the system is stable to your liking, you can always put it back in to see if it works properly. When mixing memory, it's always been recommend to use the same brand, and same size sticks, but other combo do work. The first step is getting the system working right first, then experiment. TwoRails PS: I take it about the only thing left in msconfig startup is you antivirus, mouse / keyboard, and CD RW stuff? At least for testing? |

Don't bother running Cacheman or you will end up with an UNDER configured 640MB PC.
Since you are above 512, many configs need vcache constrained, otherwise you will/can get strange memory-related errors. Do Start > Run > System.ini Scroll to the [vcache] section and add the line MaxFileCache=512000 Save, exit and reboot |

I have heard that some operating systems will crash if they got more than 512MB. I am using 256MB, and I never get any blue screens or freezes. Try lowering down your RAM to 256MB and see how things go.

They crash because vcache "can" take over all the virtual addresses. The MaxFileCache parameter resolves that issue.
