Angry Fire Huge problem *~*Please HELP :(

Alright, here is a problem i have been having for 2 days now, and its quite a big one. Id appreciate any help

Heres my specs:

Video Card: ATI Rage 128
DirectX Version: 8.1 (to my knowledge)
Sound Card: Yamaha OPL3 SAx
Pentium II ABS
Windows 98

OK!!! Now...

When i run a video test on my computer, basically it is saying that i have no usable device. Meaning DirectDraw, and 3dfx Glide. Now isnt that all included with directX? I have been having this problem ever since i installed direct X 8.1.

Problems:

1. Not letting me run any kind of game/program that uses directX (or a video card to my knowledge)

2. When i goto Start > Run > DXDIAG it saids "your System Specifications has failed in the past, would you like to bypass now?". "Your sound option has failed in the past would you like to bypass now?", and it goes on like this until i bypass everything...and it leaves me with nothing

Things ive tried

-Uninstalling my video card
-Updating it again
-Installing DirectX Again

Nothing worked.....i dont think its reading direct X right, why is this happening?

**~**~*~Sorry for the long post, please read it im dying here~
Thanks in advance-
Mike

Hi Citron,

I think the problem here is your video card may not support DirectX 8.1. I've noticed with the older video cards I tend to use, I've had to stay below DirectX 7 or I'd have video problems.

If you're trying to play some of the latest 3D games, you may need to upgrade the video card.

But wait to hear from some of the other forum members on this as I'm not a gamer and am not up to date with my knowledge of the relationship between DirectX, video cards and games.
