Question Changing Hardware in XP

I am running a system with a full install of Win XP PRo.

I want to upgrade the mainboard to the new Abit Max2, but i do not want to format the drive and re-install everything.

What is the correct procedure so Windows will accept the new H/W and boot without issues ?

Thanks.

I’m not sure if this is the correct procedure, but I changed out the mobo, cpu and ram on my PC and booted into XP with out any problems, it did take a bit to get to the “Welcome Screen”, but that was because of XP installing drivers for the various changes to my system. I had all of my data backed up before I tried this and I can’t guarantee that you will have the same success that I did, but that’s how I did it. After two weeks went by I decided to do a clean install, so I can’t really say if there is any long term affects by doing it in this manner.
