Alright i need some help. ok i just got win xp pro and for some strange reason when i go to start, then search for files or folders i can't cause it tries to connect to the internet just to search for files or folders. so when i get online i can do it but if i'm offline i can't search. now the person that installed xp for us he has a network but i removed all the network stuff since i don't have a network. so i don't know why it's doing this. any suggestions would help. oh it also says i'm missing a file to use the search function but when i get online and try it, the error doesn't come up.
thanks, devin |

ok i got a patch from microsoft that should have solved the problem but it didn't. so here is exactly what is happening i go to click search for files or folders and an error comes up saying: A file that is required to run search companion cannot be found. You may need to run setup. so i downloaded the patch ran it and it still comes up with the error i even restarted and it still said it. and the weird thing is, the search function works when i'm online but the error comes up when i'm offline. its pretty strange. can ne1 help me??
