Windows 98/XP Problems

Hi, I recently set up a dual boot system, using Windows XP and 98. I'm having trouble getting 98 hooked up to the network, using my Linksys wifi card. Setting it up was a breeze in XP. I've installed the drivers from the CD, and I set up the protocols and such so that it matched that of our other computers on the network.

Another thing-
I've made 3 partitions; 1 for Win 98, 1 for XP, and 1 for everything else. When using Windows XP, I'm able to see all of the partitions in the My Computer window. However, when using 98, the only partition that I can see is the one with 98 installed to it. Is there a way to make it see the other partitions?

*edit*
I forgot to mention that when I installed the drivers for the wireless card onto Windows 98, it stopped working on XP for some reason.

Well, your Windows XP partitions use NTFS I believe, but Win9x does not have native support for NTFS.

2 choices:
1) Buy a program (NTFSforWin98) so that Win98 can handle NTFS

or

2) Make the partition for everything else FAT32, so that both WinXP and Win98 can access it. You can convert the partition with Partition Magic (or another partition manager), or if you don't have one, you need to delete the partition and create a FAT32 one. Be sure to backup your data.

About your network problem: Well, in 98 you only need to install the drivers, set up the protocols, and that's it. What problems do you have ?

The problem with the network, it seems, is that it cannot find the wireless network to connect to. The connection manager always shows that it's "Searching..."

What are the names of some programs that allow 98 to see the NTFS?

There are a few caveats to using NTFSforWin98:

1) Won't work if your partitions were set up by Partition Magic ("known incompatibility")

2) Won't see an NTFS partion that is a primary partition. Will see an NTFS partition that is a logical one. Quote:
________
Why won't NTFS for Win98 mount a Primary NTFS Partition?
Win9x will only recognize one primary partition and that is the partition it is installed on. If you have an NTFS partition that is a primary partition, you will need to convert it to a logical partition in order for Windows to recognize it.
________
Other than that, it looks like an intriguing piece of software.
