Cursor Icon Freeze
Hi,
Every now and then when I am online the icon to my cursor freezes. The cursor itself does not freeze and I know this because when it passess over links they are highlighted. While the icon is frozen on the screen and in complete view, I can move my trackball around and links light up as an "invisible" cursor moves over it. My links are underlined when cursor hovers over it. This only started recently, (past two weeks as of today 18 Fri Oct 2K2), happens when I am online. Using IE 6.0 (had same problem with IE 5.5) and Win ME. Any other info needed let me know. Thanks for the help and any advice Chris

First things first check for a virus.
Go to www.trend.com and use the free online scan. |

Hi CSFlo66
and Welcome to Pc Mechanic. If the virus scan comes up clean, you can try looking to see if you have a System Restore point prior to your cursor trouble. More info on System Restore is available in your WinME Help files (Start/Help). Might be something as simple as your mouse driver acting up. Some mice have trouble if their speed setting is over 5 in the driver. If that's the case with yours, try lowering that value. If System Restore doesn't help, you can try booting into Safe Mode, removing your mouse, and letting Windows redetect and reinstall it. Could try a more recent driver, too. And IE6 has a Service Pack available at the Windows Update site (also at the generic Microsoft download webpage), you can try that. In case you haven't been to Safe Mode before: when rebooting or starting up - press F8 or hold down the SHIFT key, or hold down your CTRL keys and select Safe Mode from the menu. And Device Manager is available by pressing the Windows key and the Break key at the same time, or Start/Settings/Control Panel/System. Post again if none of this helps - Best of luck . . .
