Hi. I just used a program in ME that I used in Win98 with Adaptec Easy CDC 3.5 with no problem.

Now I just used it this morning in Win ME with Adaptec Easy CDC 4.02 and it gave me an error saying that my ASPI is totally outdated and I need to update it.

BTW. The program that I was using is called DDump 1.08 and it runs is DOS. What it does is it allows you to copy Safe Disk protected CD's to your HDD and make perfect copies of them with no problems.

What should I do ? Get one that runs in WIN instead of DOS ?

TIA

You may just need to update your ASPI layer. Adaptec has the ASPICHK tool on their site along with the latest ASPI.

These steps to get around that may sound dumb, but it works.

Go to "Add new hardware" in your control panel and manually install ANY adaptec SCSI card listed by windows. Reboot if necessary. Run the ASPI update from adaptec. When the update is done, go into your device manager and remove the Adaptec SCSI driver that you installed (easy to find as it will have the nice yellow ! beside it).

Thumbs down

No luck for me Hal. Everytime I try to install any Adaptec SCSI controllers Win ME gives me an erorr and it then shuts down "Add new hardware".

Anymore ideas ?

I have ran out of my own.

The only other solution I have found was to manually extract the files from the Windows CAB files.

windows\system\iosubsys\apix.vxd
windows\system\apienum.vxd
windows\system\winaspi.dll
windows\system\wnaspi32.dll

BTW, I do believe that the most recent version is 4.60.
