Would anyone know about command lines to use when installing WinXP so that when WinXP starts for the first time it starts in Clasic View instead of the WinXP Interface?
For New installs and Upgrades? Thanks in advance. |

I haven't used WINXP in a long time. But I believe you are able to change it from XP style to Classic Style somewhere in the display properties.

Thanks for the replies !
I guess I didn't word this right Lets try this again...jeje When making a fresh install of WinXP, Is it possible to run winnt32.exe with a /switch? so that when WinXP starts for the first time, it starts in clasic view and not in WinXP GUI so that I don't have to change it in the display properties. Hope this clears my question. |

I don't know how, but if a computer fails to boot under the new XP themes, you can always boot to safe mode, and set XP to use the old look.
To boot to safe mode, hold down F8 after the post screen, and select "Safe Mode" |

Check Microsoft's site or do a search for XP switches.
It may be best to change things after the fact with XP,just to ensure a clean and good install. Here's some switches check further and you'll find more. http://www.computerrepairservice.com/messages/2297.html Last edited by Alfie; 10-20-2002 at 08:57 AM. |

Alfie,
This is good info, Thanks! we are getting there. You are right I agree that a clean install should be the way to go, but as you know some clients ask, we research and give them what they want or recommend. I'm sure that there has to be a hiden switch to disable GUI from the install, I'm searching as well in what ever little free time I have, If I find something I'll post it here of course. Thanks again. |
