Hi all,
I have just installed Win2K Pro on this PC, an I have a separate partition that I would like to use to hold the common page file for all the partitions. The current page file is on Drive C:. Can anybody help please? NPP |

GaryRouth,
Many thanks. Will be going about the dirty business shortly. Trouble was that I tried to do this before but Windows just created a page file in the specified partition and retained the one on Drive C, thus effectively doubling page file size. Maybe I will try rebooting the machine direct to admin this time. Thanks again, NPP |

Once the new page file is created on the partition you want, you can delete the previous one.

for speed sake, it is good to create a page file on each partition that way the HD doesn't have to write accross partitions.

Hi all,
I have a 384 MB of PC133 SDRAM and the suggested page file (by the system, for all drives) size is 574 MB with 576 MB actually allocated (I did that manually earlier). If I set up individual page files for each partition would they all have to be this size (574 MB) or could I split this size into the number of partitions? Reboot: If I set up new page file on another partition, then I can delete "pagefile.sys" from drive C, right? Is taht the filename? Thanks for the help. It is greatly appreciated. Thanks to all of you.
Got it running with different size page files for each partition. BTW, only the system partition is NTFS: all the others are FAT32 (from my old Win98SE install). Is there a way to convert FAT32 to NTFS without damaging the data? And does the FAT32 file system interfer with the page files' functioning? NPP |

Try deleting all your pagefile.sys files. You'll only be able to delete the ones not in use, and it won't matter, because they'll be recreated when Windows starts if needed. No harm done.
