you all keep on talking about a clean installs of xp just how do you go about this .thanks

Most of the guys who mention clean installs are referring to installing from the XP cd onto a freshly formatted (or re-formatted) drive. [The XP install program itself is the best tool to format the drive if using XP's latest version of NTFS . . . it runs as part of Setup].

ok so if i restall windows me , and install the upgrade of xp that the same thing right.

Nope... that is regarded as an upgrade a clean install is free of a prior OS.

ok i did do that one time install xp without the windows me xp work ok untill i put norton systemworks 2002.than all kinds of trouble.

I wouldn't run systemworks if they gave it to me. Norton's antivirus I run and Ghost is great for those that understand and know how to properly use it and OK for someone like to stumble thru. I have been reading this forum for several years and have read about too many problems with systemworks.
