Sigh... what am I forgetting?

Gawd... don't do enuf 2K stuff these days.. they are all running too good.

I have a client with a NT server and several Win9x workstations. They recently bought 3 new machines and decided to go with Win2K. The problem is that they store data that gets backed up by one of the workstations. This workstation is always asking for a password to the network drive... what am I forgetting here??? I can do a temporary workaround by having the user on the backup machine log in as the same user as the Win2K workstations.

mmm maybe maybe not.

have you added the user to the w2k machine in the control panel..

I have a client with a win98 machine and 2 x 2k machines, first thing i do is add the users to all the 2k machines. Then i map the drives it asks me once for the password and then never again.

The win9x machines are being logged into ms networking right.

Now Hal9000 i know you probably tried all this already so i am sorry if i miss read your post... but hey no one else gave it a shot

Mind you i did find it a little confusing..

Best regards

All you need to do is to create a user Account - and then set the password option so that it is enabled on default - think this should work ..

Thx guys.. I knew it was something stupid... placing the appropriate user accnts into the system solved this issue. I really don't get enuf time on Win2K machines.... all my clients are on NT and have no need to change.
