Yeah, Crucial still sells PC66, and for DirectX info go to system information and under tools select DirectX Diagnostic Tool.

I guess you could leave it as it is and let the virtual memory do its thing until you can buy/build a new system, unless you can find some memory real cheap. While 2K will run on 64Mb’s it is still a bit of a dog, but runs nice with 128 megs.

What does virtual memory have to do with actual, on-board RAM?
"virtual memory" is the swapfile. Increase it's size, or "Let Windows Manage" it.
If the hard drive is getting full, do some cleaning.

ideally set it to 1.5 times the amunt of Ram you have. Use the same amount for max and min.

in your case that's where its at really, so set it to 512 and see if that helps.

With only a 6gig hard drive you will be using up alot of space for virtual memory. Try small increases to see what your system really needs. But like said above keep the max and min. the same size it makes it more stable. Try 256 first and run it for awhile or just set it to let system decide as discribed above if you do not want to hassle with it.

As long as you try to run Win2K with only 64mb of ram and try to multitask, you will constantly be having both physical and virtual memory issues. You can only experiment and see what works best. I don't recommend multitasking Win2k with less than 256mb physical ram, but you can do it with less as long as you are prepared to deal with slowdowns and occasional out of memory messages. My laptop is a 233 with 64mb ram, and I run 2K on it with no issues except it's SLOW, but I don't multitask it. This machine has 512mb ram which is why I have my VM set to 768.
