fqpissed display driver problems

ok i downloaded the latest drivers from creative.com for my nvidia riva tnt2 ultra video card. but before i did this i ran windows update and the went to driver updates and windows had a driver update for nvidia but this was a mistake. because now windows won't recognize the right drivers, the one i got from creative's website. it just recognizes the ones i got from microsoft, so i went through the registry and got rid of anything that had to do with these 2 files that is showing up in driver details in device manager and i also tried deleting these files anywhere they might be and after i restart they keep showing up. its like microsoft doesn't want me to have creative's drivers, its messed up. so i don't know what to do next can ne1 help me? any suggestions would help.

Start-up in safe mode (F8) and then go into the device manager (Control Panel>System>Device Manager) and under the heading "Display Adapter" highlight and delete the profile. Restart the machine and if it finds new hardware click cancel. This will load the default display adapter. Then when you get to the desktop (The display will be large and ugly) install the real video drivers. Restart the machine and restore you desktop settings from the display properties.

Hi creedrocks,

Go back to the Microsoft Windows Update site and ask it to list the recent updates on your system. From the list, highlight the video driver and then have the site remove it from your system.

This procedure seems to work with other driver updates from the site.
