Hi There
I am using Zone Alarm with WinXP Home ED, and was wondering if anyone knew what "Application Layer Gateway Service" was as it hangs around in Zone Alarm and i wondered if i could put a block on it. Cheers Eskimo |

the application layer is the first layer of the osi model, or the layer that you use (for e-mail, and software firewalls and stuff like that).
you don't want to get rid of it, or your firewall won't work. look here for a description

I disabled that in my XP services, and ZA works just fine. Plus I don't have to deal with it anymore. If you disable the service altogether then you wont have to block it through ZA.
it is only required for XP's native Firewall, which you are not using. *edit* it's also used for ICS. Last edited by DilLy; 10-23-2002 at 06:53 PM. |
