boot options in me
I have Win ME.
I tried to install XP on another partition.While it was installing I (accidentally?  ) pressed power buttom.Now when I boot up,I always see 2 optionsMS XP Setup and MS Windows.and i only have 5 secs to choose one.otherwise it automatically get into XP setup.How do I do it so that it automatically booted up into Windows I tried to reinstal ME but i lost the cd-key.I tried to downgrade to 98 but it said I had a better version that i can install it  .I dont want to install XP on this slow pc.I want to go directly into windows!!!!!!!!!How do I reformat my pc?format C:?Do i need startup disk? AH AH AHHHHHHHh AH AH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHh |

If you can, go into ME. Restart into MS Dos and type format c:. If you can't get into Windows, try using a boot disk.

Do you want to format your hard disk and remove previous Windows installations? If so, copy your important files to a drive that doesn't have Windows, then use a floppy boot disk to boot, select "Boot with CD-ROM Support", when you get "a:>", type format c: /q if c: is the drive that has windows, then insert you Windows CD and start the setup program.

If you've got your backups, the advice form aym7 & PiMa should get things started I'm a little confused on exactly what you'd like best - you sure you can't find your Windows ME key? Is this a home build or major brand? If major brand, the Recovery Disk doesn't need a key (usually). . . If you like WinME, it's probably just fine where it is, you just need to get to it. What happens when you select WinMe from that XP boot.ini screen? And if you have your WinMe disk, boot from that. A program like Partition Magic can remove the XP partition and restore that space to WinMe without any data loss. Let us know if you need more help . . . Gary |
