Knowing full well, in a month or so, I'll be using Ghost to transfer C drive over to D drive in preperation of replaceing my 10 gig 5400 C drive with a much larger 7200 HDD is there any reason NOT to compress the C drive now, to add a little space? I've only got about 1 gig of space left, and it's gettin pretty sloooooooww.
Both drives are NTFS, and Win 2K is the OS. Thanks a million in advance. Tink

Doubt that the 1GB of free space is accounting for the slow performance .. but either way, if you are going to move that drive save yourself a lot of trouble and leave it uncompressed. Mind you, compression is not going to help your speed issues any .. it conserves space not increases speed. Check to see the usual suspects for the causeof your system slowdown.

Thank you Statica. Seemed like I had remembered that a compressed drive was more difficult to transfer around.
So now I'm off to do a thourough house cleaning, and try and get rid of about 5 gig's worth of unused junk, or transfer it over to D drive. Thanks again my friend!! Tink |
