service pack 3 install prob.
i just finished a new build,installed w2k pro,got everything setup,tried to install service pack 3,down loaded(3 times at 1hr +30mn.with dial up)each time it down loaded and just at the finish an error message came up-error in install i think,dont want to down load again to make sure, and would not install.i ran repair,dont find anythin wrong with operation,no lock ups everything seems normal. anyone else had that prob.?i have a d850mv mb 1.6 cpu,256 rambus,enlight 300w ps.

not that this will help. but my g/f's puter does a similar thing with a cable connection, haven't figured out what it is yet.

I have had problems downloading sps if they are using update. Since then I have just downloaded the whole sp and have had no problems. Here is a link to download the entire sp.

I actually wouldn't worry about it. SP3 is having some file sharing problems when networked, so SP4 is coming very soon. I would just wait for SP4, since 3 has been more of a pain than a help.

thanks Mr N8 i guess i dont have a choice anyway,i downloaded as per crjdriver link and it got through dl files and patches-necessary space-create files\sp3- cab imaging? i think it said then went to error in updating your system occured,and shut down,--i did have anti virus and add aware shut down.i have downloaded other programs without incident.appreciate you help anyway.
