XP Pro not running correctly with 2400+
Hi All,
Pretty desparate on this one. I have a Gigabyte GA7VRXP ver 2 with the F11 latest BIOS. Running at SDR freq with a AMD 1400 SDR CPU. GEFORCE 4 4200.The mobo is jumpered to 100mhz and all is well. No problems at all. Runnning Zone alarm Nortons all the usual stuff. I have read up and the mobo will accept upto a 2600+. I have installed a 2400+ set the mobo frequency to 133mhz and set the ram freq set to 'by HW'. The clock multiplier is set to auto. When booting up it dispays AMD 2400+ (2.0gb) on the initial bios screen. XP continues to load but does not load any system drivers. The display is at the monitor setting 1280 1024 no sound and no Zone alarm, cant go into system to check devices or when I go into MY COMPUTER the waving torch appears and no drives appear, but all other software, Autoroute, notepad, Flightsim 2002 all work. No access to USB devices.I tried booting with the 2400+ into SAFE MODE and I had access to the device manager but not in normal mode. I have just reinserted the AMD 1400 reset the mobo freq to 100mhz for SDR and it booted and ran everything okay all internet (hence this plea for help) access to device manager all working. Any one any ideas short of reinstalling XP, I did not get the usual blue screen advising of a hardware incompatability when the 2400+ was installed. I have had a quick scan on AMD's web site but cannot find anything. Someone must have a similar set up. I have put this plea for help in the hardware section, sorry about the dup, I am desparate.
