XP dumb tip...
wanna start up your windows faster??
when you done using it, instead turn it off, just hibernate it. You'll get into windows in no time....

It will do wonderful things for the fragmentation of your system drive. Hibernation data is saved to the drive .. with XP the difference in time between bootup and hibernation is not that great .. turning it off will ensure your data integrity as well. STR is a much better option for a short period of time.

i timed my comp start up the otherday w/ win xp....40 seconds trimmed it down by shutting some un-nessicary bios things and keeping defraged

Another easy tip is to go to Control panel and sound and audio devices and go to sounds and select (none) for the start and exit windows sounds it doesn't have to look for the file so it loads and exits a tad bit faster. I don't like the noise anyway.

I heard that Sierawolf. On our workstation running NT we have about 8 diferent users with their own preferences set for each profile desktop. I logon and am at work allot quicker than most as they insist on turning speaker volume down instead of setting sound scheme to off. Go figure. Time means allot to me.
