Dual Operating System Problem

Hi,My dad has just installed windows Xp,and let ME intact on the computer by accident. So I installed windows Xp again but over Me, now i get a messag on startup asking which version of Windows Xp i want to use. How do i stop my computer from saying this as it really annoys me

Send a message via AIM to Mr N8 Send a message via Yahoo to Mr N8
Go to your C: drive, and open boot.ini
You should see two lines that look similar to this:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

Delete one of them.

Keep in mind, though, you still have 2 versions of the OS installed.

i cant find boot.ini,do u think that if i used norton to repair my rsgistry it mgiht work.thnx

In windows XP, you need to open the "System" applet. Open control panel and printer other hardware and you will see the system on the left hand side. Click on the advanced tab and click the settings button in the startup and recovery area. Click the edit button in the upper system startup section. That brings up the boot.ini. Just do what N8 said earlier and voila. Hope this helps.
