Wacky CD Rom?
Running xp pro. I have a cd rom that starts up spontaneously. It just starts with the light flashing and the mouse pointer showing the little disk icon. When I leave the cd rom door open it stops. It will go for a few days without doing a thing then start doing it again. It does this in both XP and IE. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. Inspecting the Task Manager shows nothing unusual. I dont' know if some program is trying to start it or is it just a mechanical something inside the cd rom that makes it think a disk has just been inserted. Device manager says it is working fine. And it does work just fine when I put a disk into it.
Any ideas??? I have another cd rom drive to try but haven't yet.
