how can one guy screw up an install of 2K?
I have a computer loaded with 2k ready to send off to its adopted new home, when I noticed that all of the drive isnt showing in Windows, since 2k doesnt have the ol floppy with fdisk waiting to fix my screwup of not partitioning the remander of the drive, I insert the 2k CD and go through the setup phase and partition the remainder of the disk.
Now I have a C drive,a E drive --and a boot manager that pops up-ughhhhhhhhhhhhh Questions- 1.how do I eliminate the boot up screen that asks me if I want 2k or 2k setup 2. I can find in 2k where in the heck to change the E drive to D drive so I can have the old ducks in a row--- |

1. Determine the correct install of 2K and edit the boot.ini file to reflect the one install.
2. Administrative tools > Computer management > Disk management.

I believe the boot.ini file is a hidden and protected system file you will have to disable the setting in folder options in order to find the boot.ini file.

If you boot the pc to repair mode, one of the utilities might offer to edit the boot.ini file for you. I haven't had the pleasure of trying this one yet, so you might have to hunt around in the repair menu to find it. Hmm..here's a MS article that might do, look in the section called "Manual Repair"
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q311578 Here's the instructions for doing it manually [not using the CD] http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q141188 And the instructions with all the details: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q311578 Of course, you may have just re-installed by now - sorry if this is too late a reply . . . Control Panel - System - Advanced - Startup and recovery options - system startup - choose the correct default and uncheck the box to show list.
You could delete the 2nd partition and use partition magic to resize the original one. |
