Formatting?
Hello,
I'm upgrading a lot of stuff on my system, adding a CD-RW, GeForce4 Ti 4600, Soundblaster Audigy Gamer. My plan was to install the CD-RW first, back up all my stuff to CD-R, then reformat before installing the video/sound cards, to avoid any driver conflicts, etc.(plus, I haven't formatted my HDD since I got it a year ago!). My question: how do you format a drive? From within Windows? I go to Disk Management, but when I right-click the drive, thr Format option is grayed out. How do I format my HDD? Thanks!

If your OS is on the partition as you are trying to format it won’t allow you to do it, if you are ready to install and I assume its XP just boot to the cdrom, delete the partition, create a new partition then format and install. It’s very easy and straight forward using the XP setup to do this.

So, I just reboot my system to the WinXP CD, then delete the partition? No need to do it in Windows?
