DVD Region Change... ?

I noticed on my DVD drive that i can only change the DVD Region setting 4 times. Seems a bit much that you can't do what you want with your own computer these days, so is there any way to get past the limit?

It's a Mat****a SR8588 DVD drive, and aparently re-installing windows or moving the dvd drive to another computer won't get past the problem...

Edit
Well, i find it fairly amusing that my DVD drive also contains a swear in the name of it... How convinent

That is the legality of the drive and the DVD technology, and has existed for a while now. Any information to circumvent that setting is a matter of software cracking, am sure there are other forums and other sites that will have that information; but not here. Please refer to the FAQ.

Thanks for the info.

Sorry, i wasn't wanting to touch on anything illegal but i don't see why there is always such a big with getting DVDs from another country. I mean, i'm in the UK and sometimes i just can't get some of the DVDs i'd like meaning i have to import.

And don't get my started with importing software! You mean because i live in the UK i have pay at least $200 to get top class software?

DVDs have different region codes so that movies can be released in different locations at different times. Thus, a movie usually comes out on DVD sooner in the U.S. than in Europe, and DVD region codes allow the studios to ensure that people can't get around this, or at least it makes it more expensive.

It's there because the movie studios want it. No technical reasons at all.
