My mother has called me that she has a new problem with printing out emails, etc. When she does, a sheet of paper is first printed out that says:
Microsoft (R) Windows 98 ---------------------------------- Document: (document name) Printed By: (Her Name) Date and Time: (Date and Time) I do not know the make of the computer (a $500 one) or printer except it is a cheap Epson (maybe a C60?). She has not had this problem in the 2 years she has had the computer. Possibly something new checked/unchecked in some software? Is this a printer, computer, sofware, or what problem? Please let me know what information is necessay for a fix. I will get it from her and repost. I could find nothing in the posts about this problem. Thanks for your help. |

Some Epson drivers have a setting called a "Separator Page", usually under the "General" tab of the driver. If set to "None"= no page in between prints. The other options, "Simple" or "Full" print out "headers" like the ones you described. Sounds like the "Simple" header to me (kind of like the "header print" option on lineprinters on big UNIX systems).
To get to that spot in her printer driver, she can go Start/Settings/Printers . . . and right-click on the Epson, then click on "Properties". It's possible she may have accidentally installed an extra driver and it's settings are different than what she's used to. If she has several Epson printer drivers, but only one Epson, and wants to only use one driver, she can delete any extras. [The extra drivers would appear like separate printers in the Printers Folder -sometimes with a just slightly different name than the original] . . . Thanks for the help Gary.
Mom's computer went down and so we have been unable to think about fixing her printer problem. It is hard to work on computers several hundred miles away. I appreciate your help and will try it as soon as things are going OK. |
