Just for Future Reference
I've just litteraly had a problem with my machine running Windows ME.
Let Me Explain. I was going about my business as normal on my computer, i loaded up RealOne Player and the computer froze. Ten when i restarted the machine i didn't detect my mouse and my display settings were aboslout crap and was unchangable. I had a look in my system.ini file and the first portion of the file was in my opinion was corrupt... i say corrupt becuase the first portion of it was in jibberish. Anyways i formatted my computer and installed Windows XP and everythign runs fine. I'm sure there is a better way of fixing this problem, i just didn't know what it was at the time. Could somebody please fill me in becuaes i don't want to keep reformatting my machine everyime this happens (if at all it happens again) |

I don't know about XP but in Me, just do
Start > Run > Scanreg/Restore and restore the current or previously backed up registry. This will also restore the Win.ini and System.ini files. |

With both ME and XP, do a system restore to a point before where everything worked fine.
