Error when using outlook after installing windows critical updates

Hello,
I just installed some updates to windows and now when I try to send or receive email using outlook I get a "page fault error in the inetcomm.dll" error message. Any idea how to get rid of this error?
Thanks for your help,
Bigron

Try these. As for error messages it is far better to write down the exact error message as it narrows down the field.

I also am consistently receiving an error message as follows:

Task 'mail.optonline.net - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC90) : 'Your incoming (POP3) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: C:\WINDOWS\System32\inetcomm.dll'

This did not follow any update installation that I am aware of.

I am running Outlook 2002 under Windows XP. My ISP is Optimum Online, a cable broadband service.

I have run the Outlook repair sequence, with no apparent result. I also checked the MS supoport sites and Tech sites, but nothing turned up of specific relevance. This is an error that has been written up, although most of the KB docs refer to Outlook Express, and none refer to Windows XP.

Any ideas what options I have?
